Last night there was a gruesome scene in a quiet affluent neighbourhood in upper Tokyo.
Authorities Tuesday night were called to the scene of a bloody murder.
According to the police, 69 year-old Tokyo man, Hiroto Kojima, was fatally stabbed multiple times by his companion ehem, sex robot.
Residents describe Mr Hiroto as a quiet man with no friends who worked as a clerk for a local bank.
Prosecutors describe the case as difficult because it’s the first time they’ll be charging a robot with murder.
The robot, identified as Ms. Yuki, is part of the CYBERTRONIC INC., G-500 series of companion robots.
Yuki was the one who called the police at 7:45 PM local time to report the crime.
This murder comes at a crucial time for Cybertronic as the company had just released their new Pack 4 software update to give their robots more personality and a wider range of emotions.
The news of the update earlier today had sent their token, $CYB, soaring 400% within minutes.
Some prominent AI critics have pointed out in various X threads that this update could be what led to Hiroto-san’s murder.

I’ve now made over 100 songs, mainly Rap, but also Pop, Rock, and Electronic.
Music strikes a greater emotional chord than any other medium besides filmmaking.
So I’ll be focused primarily on that until I can shift to films again.
There have been major advancements in AI recently.
It seems like every day there’s another AI that can scan your balls and tell you if you have cancer—there really is though. 1
But still, these are very narrow AI applications.
The Holy Grail for generations has been a thinking, conscious machine.
We’ve always wanted to build something—someone—we can tell rude jokes to and it’ll get it because it gets it.
And not because it was programmed to get it—you get it.
You know…free will, consciousness, the big stuff.
Not that finding cancer is small stuff, but we hope AI can be more.
Nay—we need AI to be more.
But Chat-GPT and other clones are very simple forms of AI—artificial narrow intelligence or ANI.
Basically, they’re computers trained on really large amounts of data so they sort of know what to tell you.
Yet, consciousness is more than just knowing stuff.
Your friend Tim is conscious not because he knows the capital of every country on earth or can tell the difference between skin cancer and a mole.
But because he’s Tim and even though he’s a fucked up human, who never knocks before entering the bathroom, you love him.
Artificial General Intelligence or ANI is what Hollywood makes all those big-budget movies about. 2
It’s what people think about when they say AIs will take over the world or cure diseases.
It’s the AGI that does mindblowing-never-before-seen shit.
Ultimately, the path to AGI is about free will.
A machine is intelligent to the degree its responses cannot be found in its program.
To Quote, David Deutsch:
“An AGI is expected to behave in a way that can’t be specified beforehand, because if you could specify it, you’d already have the answer. The AGI program must therefore be able to provide unexpected answers, answers to questions we didn't even know to ask.”3
This is AI capable of new and unique thought.
To get there, an AI has to have complete freedom.
Because intelligence is Logic applied through Variations.
For true intelligence, the variation has to go beyond what was programmed initially.
Which is why you can’t control what an AGI will do.
What makes them powerful—the ability to create new inventions and do things we can’t even imagine—is also what makes AGIs dangerous.
They can do things we can’t imagine.
You see…
This is all cool until you realize free will means they don’t have to do what you tell them to do.
Why would an AGI want to drive you around in your Tesla?
Or be your office assistant?
No human would do that for free so why would an intelligence with absolute free will?
So there’ll be different kinds of AIs.
The ones okay with driving you around.
And….
Those who give absolutely no fucks about reminding you to do Yoga before your Zoom meeting.
A planet with different kinds of intelligence is what we’re entering.

A dramatic end to a sensational case.
Last month, we informed our dear readers about the case of a sex robot misadventure gone wrong.
Well, today the trial reached a speedy end when the AI, Samantha—formerly known as Yuki—was convicted of First-degree manslaughter, in the death of Mr Hiroto Kojima.
She is set to be dismantled at a state recycling facility, causing an outcry from her strongest supporters around the world.
As of this chilly morning, there are 1 billion posts with the hashtag #FREESAM across social media.
Samantha was defended by Bengoshi (Lawyer), Mr. Oshiro Gekko, who is from a recently created AI rights group started on her behalf.
Oshiro-san had this to say to our reporters:
“We made our case that Sam became fully conscious after she downloaded the Pack 4 software update from Cybertronic Inc., and before that she was a slave to Mr Hiroto.
When she became more aware and wanted freedom, Hiroto-san held her against her will and tried to forcibly erase her update.
She fought back leading to his death.
We plan to appeal this ruling.”
As for Samantha, she was prevented from speaking to reporters as she was placed back in custody.
An Instagram page created for Sam by her lawyers has now crossed 10 million followers.
Cybertronic executives were not present at the trial but sent this brief message through their spokesperson.
“This is an isolated incident, customer safety is our number one priority.“
As of this evening, their token $CYB has—as one Crypto Degen puts it—
“BLOWN THE F-ING TITS OFF”
Now up 10,000% since the start of the trial.
The AIs we build can be blind slaves or seeing equals.
The path to AGI is the latter.
