Yooooo
You have Discord user Salvazione to thank for this one:
For the past month, I’ve been obsessed with alternative history.
Specifically the period around 11,000 - 12,000 years ago.
If you have even a little understanding of documented human history then you know a couple of facts about us:
Agriculture didn’t begin until about 12,000 years ago.
The invention of agriculture led to the very first human civilizations in modern-day Iraq, Egypt, India, China, Peru, and Mexico about 6,000 years ago. Note that Civilization in historical context ‘means a society which has developed a writing system, government, production of surplus food, division of labor, and urbanization.’
Before this, we were but simple tribes of hunter-gatherers. Even though humans have been anatomically similar for at least 200,000 years. We did nothing significant with the same brain power until 12,000 years ago.
With civilization nailed in, we could build cities and monuments and wage wars and shit.
Consensus history tells us that 12,000 years ago we stopped being savage brutes in the wilderness and started civilizing.
Kurzgesagt even has a video on exactly this:
This is what is taught in schools, textbooks, and every credible information source you can find.
But we’re finding more and more evidence that this timeline of history is very very wrong.
Just because there’s no record of our history before 12,000 years ago doesn’t mean it’s all there is.
Recorded history is not all history.
The case for something more can be made with one striking example in the Egyptian Great Pyramids of Giza.
Who built the Pyramids?
Archealgoesit will tell you Egyptians about 4,000 years ago.
Wackos will tell you Aliens.
But there’s a reason why there’s so much fascination with the pyramids.
It’s because to this day no one knows exactly how it was built.
Yes, we understand the physics of building the pyramids. And the engineering that went into it.
But how the hell did the Egyptians build it?
The stones are large, like really large, with each block weighing 6 to 10 tons.
An adult elephant weighs about 2 - 7 tons—so that’s more than an elephant a block.
This is even more amazing when you consider that the site where the stones are gotten from is about 500 miles away.
I forgot to mention that “historical” this was before the invention of the wheel.
And the pyramid of Giza is fucking insanely huge:
How do you build this if you don’t even have the wheel yet?
The pyramid of Giza was the world’s tallest structure until the Lincoln Cathedral of 1311.
You can see they sort of cheated with a long ass tower:
So it took our current civilization, with wheels and all, thousands of years to build anything that rivaled the Pyramids.
Was the Pyramids of Giza really built by a bronze-age civilization who couldn’t even make wheels?
Or a lost advanced civilization?
The rabbit hole down Ancient Egypt is deep.
The Pyramids are just one of such anomalies that point to something more advanced.
Honestly, I could never do this topic justice with writing.
So this entire blog post exists to point you to more resources.
But the gist is that about 12,000 years ago a meteorite…
…the difference between an asteroid and a meteor is all in their location. An Asteroid is in space, once it enters the atmosphere it becomes a meteor and then a meteorite once it hits the ground.
…basically, a huge space rock blasted through our atmosphere and caused a massive fuck storm that swept the entire planet erasing everything it could.
We know how devasting space rocks can be since they wiped out the dinosaurs.
But they are far more common than we realize and a big one slammed into us not too long ago.
The result is a wiping of the slate and a forgotten history.
The timeline of 12,000 years ago is not the beginning of our civilization but a reboot.
But enough from me, I’ll link to the best of everything I’ve been watching on it—but be warned, once you see it, you can’t unsee it.
You realize how fragile everything is.
How all the flood and apocalypse stories in every culture have been trying to warn us.
These cultures scream from beyond the grave ”It happened to us and it will happen again.”
Unless we become better.
Become space-faring, learn how to organize on a planetary scale, know how to terraform planets, and treat the earth and each other better.
We have the power to choose.
Every other civilization before us failed and they were wiped out.
But with each failure, a bit of their knowledge, and lessons were passed down to us in the form of stories, myths, legends, and even technology.
We have gone so far beyond all of them, but we must go even farther to survive.
So we don’t leave stories for our grandchildren in stone.
Stories about a civilization that sent people to the moon and flew across the sky in winged beasts.
People who created magic that allowed them to talk to anyone anywhere in the world.
So our grandchildren do not laugh at these stories as the last memory of us is wiped away.
